Our Values  [back to top]

We Value God

We realize that God exists and so we seek to glorify Him in a daily worshipful relationship with Him. (Isaiah 46:9; Luke 10:38-42) We love Him because He first loved us. (1 John 4:19)

We Value God's Word

We strive to preach and teach God's Word with clarity and relevance in order that we may fully submit to God's authoritative will for our lives both individually and corporately. (2 Timothy 3:16-17; 2 Timothy 4:2)

We Value Personal Growth

We recognize that all of the Christian life includes and demands change towards Christ-likeness. (Colossians 1:10; 2 Corinthians 3:18) We place a high priority on maturing and equipping disciples for useful service. (Matthew 28:18-20)

We Value Spiritual Relationships

We desire humble accountability in developing genuine Christian friendships so that we can meet one another's needs. (Hebrews 10:24-25; Proverbs 27:17) God has designed us to live the Christian life as integral parts of His body, the local church. (1 Corinthians 12:20-27)

We Value Reaching the Lost for Christ

We know that every person is born a sinner and that the only way anyone can escape eternal damnation is through faith in the substitutionary death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. (John 14:6; John 3:18) Therefore we must actively share this Good News personally, through church ministries, and by supporting missions. (2 Corinthians 4:3-6)

Our Ministries  [back to top]

AWANA
- We have a youth group that meets every Tuesday that school is in session from 6:30-8:30pm. This is for young people grades 4-12.

Sunday School - We teach children up to grade five during the preaching of the morning message (except during school holidays).

Creche - If you have a baby or small children who need attention during the service, there is a creche available during the preaching services.

Ladies' Bible Study - The ladies meet regularly throughout the year to enjoy fellowship and study in God's word.

Bible Institute - We take discipleship seriously by regularly offering various courses of study. Subjects may be formal like "Introduction to Counseling" or informal like "How to Study the Bible." These classes are voluntary and usually include a small fee to cover the cost of your textbooks.

Fellowship Lunch - We typically gather together every second Sunday of the month after the morning service to enjoy fellowship and food. Everyone brings something to share. It is a great time to relax and get to know your brothers and sisters in Christ on a more personal level.

Our History  [back to top]

Trinity Baptist Church was started in 1979 by an American missionary, Buddy Smith who pastored the church for 11 years. After we were without a pastor for 2 years, we called Steve Gibb who would pastor for 15 years. In 2006, when the Lord led Steve Gibb and his family to serve in Vanuatu as missionaries, the church then called Steven Mock to be our pastor.

For the first few years we gathered in school rooms and rented facilities. In 1996 we built our present building at 115 Progress Road , White Rock.

Our Doctrine  [back to top]

This church believes:

1.   That the Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments are the infallible Word of God, verbally inspired by the Holy Spirit, and therefore without error. We accept the Scriptures as being the sole authority in matters relating to the faith and life of Believers. (2 Timothy 3:16-17; 2 Peter 1:19-21).

The translations to be used in the public ministry will be the King James Version (AV) and the New King James Version. However, quotations or Scriptures readings may be used from the New American Standard Version, New International Version or such other translations which accurately render God's Word into the English language.

We believe the Scriptures are to be interpreted:

a.   Literally - in the natural, normal sense of the words.

b.   Historically - understanding the historical setting.

c.   Grammatically - understanding the order and meaning.

d.   Synthetically - no part of the bible contradicts any other.

e.   Practically - how does this apply to me?

2.  In one God eternally existing in three co-equal persons, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, each having the same attributes and perfection (Deuteronomy 6:4; 2 Corinthians 13-14).

3.   That God the Father is the Source of every good thing (James 1:17; John 14:10).

4. In the Deity and Humanity of the Lord Jesus Christ, His Virgin Birth, His substitutionary death for our sins, His resurrection, and that all who repent and believe in Him are justified by His shed blood. We also look for His personal, bodily, imminent, pre-tribulational and pre-millennial return (1 Timothy 3:16; 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18; Acts 1:11; Revelation 19:11; 20:6).

5.   In the Deity and personality of the Holy Spirit Whose work is to:

a.   Bring conviction through the Word (Acts 2:37; John 16:7-11)

b.   Bring repentance. (Romans 2:4).

c.   Accomplish regeneration. (Titus 3:5).

d.   Seal unto eternal life. (Ephesians 4:20)

e.   Indwell the believer. (Romans 8:9)

f.    Give assurance to the believer. (Romans 8:16-17).

g.   Teach us through the Word (John 14:26)

6.   The Genesis record of the creation of all things. (Genesis 1-2; Hebrews 11:3).

7.   In the total depravity of human nature as a result of the fall of man (Gen.3) and the necessity of the new birth for salvation (2 Corinthians 5:17; John 3:3-7)

8.  That the soul is indestructible (Revelation 20:10) and in the resurrection of the body (John 11:25-26) and in the continual consciousness of the soul after death (Luke 16:19-31).

9.   In the existence of a literal heaven (John 14:2-3) and hell (Revelation 20:15) as the eternal abodes of the redeemed and lost respectively.

10.  In the reality and personality of the Devil, Satan, who is the adversary of God, His Word and the believer (I Peter 5:8)

a.   We believe he is destined for eternal punishment in the lake of fire. (Revelation 20:10)

b.   We do not believe that Satan or his demons can inhabit the body of one who is truly born again (2 Corinthians 6:16; 1 John 4:4).

11.  In the necessity of believers maintaining good works and purity of life and doctrine. (Ephesians 2:10; Romans 6:1-4; 12:1-2; Titus 3:8).

12.  In the eternal security of the believer, that it is impossible for one born into the family of God ever to be lost (John 1:12; 10:27-29; Romans 8:28-39; Philippians 1:6; 1 John 5:10-13).

13.  That salvation is by grace (unmerited favour) through faith, a free gift of God wholly apart from the deeds of the flesh, involving repentance and personal faith in Jesus Christ on the part of the sinner (Ephesians 2:8-9; Titus 3:5; Acts 16:30-31; Romans 4:5; 2 Timothy 1:9).

14.  In the priesthood of all believers (I Peter 2:9).

15.  Concerning the church:

a.  The church is the body of Christ, of which He is the living head, the members being all born again believers, Jew and Gentile alike (Ephesians 5:23-32; Matthew 16:18; Acts 2:1-47; Colossians 3:11)

b.   That the body of Christ is manifested in local assemblies of believers (Acts 2:41-47; Romans 16:16).

c.  That it is the responsibility of the local church to administer the ordinances of the church - baptism and the Lord's supper (Acts 2:41-47).

16.  That there are two ordinances to be administered by the local church:? baptism and the Lord's supper (Matthew 28:18-20; Luke 22:19-20).

a.   That baptism is to be a full immersion upon public profession of faith in the Lord Jesus Christ (Acts 8:36-38).

b.  That the Lord's supper is to be observed frequently as a remembrance of the Lord's death, and if possible using fresh grape juice and unleavened bread as the emblems of our Lord's blood and body (1 Corinthians 11:23-26).

17.  In the independence of the local church from any other church, denomination, or the State (Acts 15:25-29).

18.  In the separation of the local church from groups which are guilty of apostasy or heresy. e.g. We have no part with the following movements:

a.   The World Council of Churches and affiliates.

b.   New Evangelicalism (Romans 16:17)

c.   The modern day Charismatic Movement (Titus 3:10-11).

d.   Jehovah's Witnesses, Seventh Day Adventists, Mormons, Herbert W. Armstrong, and other cults (2 John 9-11).

19.  In the personal separation of believers from worldly associations, habits and amusements (2 Corinthians 6:14-18; 1 Corinthians 6:12; 1 Thessalonians 5:22).
